Sweet Summer Time

Since I'm not working now, Maggie isn't in school, and Eric works year-round, summertime isn't much different than the rest of the year for us. BUT since our family is full of teachers we are getting to spend a lot more time with them! We have been to the pool, zoo, and on play dates with our friends and cousins. Of course I forgot my camera for most of those. I promise I am going to get better about that! But here are a few pictures of Maggie's first time eating watermelon. Daddy brought it home on Memorial Day and I thought it was a good way to start off our summer!

We also had our first spend the night buddy over! Westin got to come play and stay the night with us. Maggie was a little possessive of her toys and her daddy, but they were both in bed and asleep by 8 and slept all night!

12 Months

I can't believe Maggie is a year old! It's amazing how much a baby changes in just 12 months. She is in the beginnings of walking. She definitely isn't scared of letting go, she just doesn't have good balance yet, which sometimes doesn't end pretty! She says 3 words: Ma Ma, Da Da, and Bye Bye. She is into everything and runs (crawls) away from me as fast as she can when I'm getting on to her. She has a very big attitude and has perfected the act of pitching a fit. It makes me sad that a whole year has already gone by, but I am excited to see what the next year brings!

12 Months stats:

Weight: 22 lbs (60th percentile)
Height: 29 in. (40th percentile)
Head: 17 1/2 in.  (25th percentile)
clothes: 18 m
shoes: 3

she doesn't even looked like the same baby!

MiMi and PaPa

Last week me and Maggie went to vist Mimi and Papa at their house in Georgia because Eric was working in Tuscaloosa for a while. We love going up there and we would make the trip a lot more often if it wasn't so far away! This was my first long trip with Maggie alone, but I think we did pretty good. On the way up she didn't sleep much, but I just kept handing her Ritz crackers and she was ok. About 15 minutes away from their house she broke down, but it could have been worse!

While we were there we went to the park and Papa pushed Maggie in the swing. She giggled and squealed the whole time!

Hopefully we can make a couple of more trips up there this summer!

Alabama the Beautiful

Whenever I hear on the news about tornadoes in The Plains and the destruction that they leave in those cities, it just seems so far away. But yesterday those same storms ripped through our beautiful Alabama. There isn't one person that hasn't been affected, whether they know or know of someone who is either missing, homeless, or has lost their life. This morning I woke up just thanking God that my little family was safe. I can't imagine being seperated from Maggie or Eric, not know where they were or even if they were alive. Thankfully no one in my family or friends I know directly have been effected, but these parents looking for their children in Tuscaloosa just hits too close to home.

Days like these make you rethink everything. Our Lord, who says "Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," is and should be number one. And our family and friends who we share this life with become even closer and irreplaceable.

We are praying, praying, praying.

Easter

Easter morning we got up and went to church for the first time in way too long. Just like a lot of people I'm sure. We visited a church that a couple of our friends go to and we loved it! Hopefully we will start making that a habit on Sundays. Maggie had only been to a church once when she was really little so she sat in the sancuary with me...but yesterday she had to go to the nursery. She did great! She gave us a weird look as we left but the ladies in there said she was such a good and happy baby.

we didn't get Maggie a lot for Easter because she has a birthday coming up soon
we got a couple of sippy cups with straws, a new movie...the bubbles are from a prize at the Easter egg hunt, and her lamb is what she got for Easter last year, but since she wasn't born yet I thought I could give it to her again :)

I was torn between two dresses for Maggie to wear for Easter. One was a smocked dress that I love and want her to wear for something before she out grows it. The other was a cute little dress that my Memaw got that matched our cousin, Ava Reese's. Well Daddy said that the smocked dress looked too "poofy". So we went with the other one. Of course I didn't get one picture that entire day. That just seems to be what happens on holidays! Maggie got her dress filthy when we went Easter egg hunting so I had to put her in her smocked dress to take some pictures of her today. Let's just act like this was Easter morning...

she wasn't in the mood...

look what we randomly found...

I hope everyone had a great day! Happy Easter!

11 Months

Maggie is now 11 months old! I can't believe that in one month we will be celebrating her first birthday. I guess I need to start on that! Maggie has definitely developed her own little personality, she pitches fits, snatches things, and knows what she wants! She has learned to wave bye bye, which she does to everything and everyone. She still isn't trying to walk, but I'm not really expecting her to until her birthday. Maggie still weighs 21 lbs (same has when she was 9 months). I guess she is just growing taller, but I haven't noticed her getting any thinner! I just noticed the other day when her hair was blowing in the wind how long it was getting! Her new favorite foods are green beans and Cheerios. We are exclusively using sippy cups now...even at night! She really didn't seem to notice the transition, but when our cousin Westin was over last week he had a bottle and Maggie was not very happy about it.
